We hike everywhere from mountains to lakes and anywhere else we can think of. We go backpacking, biking, and climbing; ski and snowshoe, kayak, canoeing and swimming, and in many other ways celebrate nature and the great outdoors. While exploring the great outdoors is thrilling and restorative, we care about our delicate environments and promote Leave-No-Trace principles and good trail etiquette.

To better protect ourselves from injuries and other life-threatening conditions, all members should take safety and preparedness seriously, carry the Ten Essentials, and be self reliant.

Hayward Lake Loop (Stave Lake Area)Seems everyone is checking out this loop recently which hasn't been a loop in well over a decade or maybe two since something had happened to the floating bridge across Hairsine Inlet I think it's called. Anyhow, a new shiny floating bridge has quietly been rebuilt to make this a loop again. Some highlights are a beaver pond side trail and Steelhead Falls side trails both of which are short off of the main trail, crossing two dams with plenty of evidence of old train trestles from the distant past. We will spend three days on this Vancouver Island bikepacking trip through the Saanich Peninsula along the Lochside Regional Trail to Victoria where we switch to the Galloping Goose Trail and head westward through Colwood, Metchosin and Sooke to our campsite for 2-nights at the Sooke Potholes. On Day 2, we will do a hike or two around the Potholes area and then, on Day 3, cycle back the way we came to the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal.
