Hello Readers,

At our last meeting we decided to return to the twenty first century but not yet.  Two or three more classics and we will be in modern times.  It is good to see what we do of the past and how what we consider new is old hat.

Christopher Nolan's next film The Odyssey is based upon Emily Wilson's translation of the Odyssey.  It is modern, calling Odysseus 'complicated' and also honest in stripping back the slave based nature of this society.  She has redefined the Odyssey in parts after centuries of obfuscations of uncomfortable truths.  If you want to read another translation you may but this is the one I'll be …
