These are pictures I took at our last delivery of blankets to the “Out of the Cold” program. This location was at the “Soup Kitchen” that is hosted at the All Saints Kingsway Anglican Church. Normally we would just pass on the blankets for the volunteers/staff to give out to the needy however this time the Director of the program asked if we would “man” the blanket station (in the same area where they give out socks, underwear, etc) and help those in need select a blanket if the want/need one. If I remember correctly, we gave out about 17 larger blankets and about 15 smaller lap/wheelchair blankets.

The Director of the program had indicated that they would love to get some hats and head bands so some of our members may consider knitting those items also

In addition to the “Soup Kitchen”, the church also facilitates 20 overnight beds for men (on a 1st come basis) and in the morning after breakfast, they send then out in the cold with a bag lunch.

Just as an FYI….volunteer groups (other churches, organizations, etc) sign up for cooking/providing a Friday dinners/next day lunches for about 125 persons. I had thought at one point that it may be interesting for our group to take on one of the scheduled days. Too late for this year but we may consider for next year.
