Palisade Park n Ride 35 8/10 Road Palisade, CO, 81526

Six mile round trip is 4 miles (or more on numbered forest service trails) then 1/2 to 1 mile of terrain like this.

My wife tells me she took our dog when she did this hike. He is pretty long legged so I do not know about shorty leg dogs in the boulders - your choice.

BRING:

Clothes for temps in low to mid 60's* and 5-15 mph winds
Trekking poles (have rubber tips for traction on the boulders)

Comedy of errors, miles of walking the wrong trail before we realized that then . . . which of those huge tongues of basalt boulders do you go up? I'll take a better map next time. Thanks for the extremely scenic walk, Lauren. And, Dash the dog, enjoyed soaking his paws in the many lakes we passed by. With a good map more hiking could be nice up there. Almost no mosquitos, 64* up there when it was 94* in Fruita.... that was nice.
