I have been wanting to do the North Rim for a while. This trip must be done only mid-season as Cascade Creek can be trecherous to cross early and there is not water during late season. Late July should have water and creeks should be manageable. Plan is to meet on the evening of 7/28 at Hodgen Campground (to be booked on the 3/15 when reservation open). This way people can arrive anytime after work on Friday. On Saturday morning, pack up and leave early in the morning as parking lots will fill up quickly. We will stop at the Big Oak Flat (BOF) station to pick up permit then drive to the BOF TH and leave one car there - Parking lot …

Hey everyone, just checking if everyone with yes RSVP confirmed is still planning to go? Please note that I like everyone to camp the night before so that we can plan to leave together the next day. I was looking forward to this but I will not be able to make it. I just spent 10 days in ICU and no idea how long my recovery will take but I know I won't be ready for a trip like this. I hope to join up next year, for now my goal is to get strong and healthy again.

I was looking forward to this trip but I'm going to have to drop out. I've spent the last year being treated for breast cancer. I'm doing well and have got back to backpacking this spring. However I have to be on a hormone blocking medication for the next 5 years and its causing severe joint issues especially affecting my knees. I switched meds 3 months ago hoping a different one would be better, and it was initially but my knees have got really bad again. About to try a 3rd one, but don't think I'll be up to backpacking in time for this trip.

@Mary Mahon: Excuse me for replying as I am a leader of my own group in the UK. I was on that medication and what really helped with the pain was taking powdered magnesium mixed in water. It was called Calm. My consultant was surprised I had no pain until I told him what I was taking.
