Join us for a relaxed stroll of about 3.5 miles around the pleasant market town of Petersifield.
The town dates from the 12th century and grew as a coach stop on the Portsmouth to London road, now the A3. It is wholly within the South Downs National Park and is a base for exploring the area.
Starting from the station we will walk via footpaths towards Churcher's College, one of a number of well-known private schools in the area, and from there circle round towards Petersfield Heath just south-east of the town centre. The heath contains burial mounds which may be up to 4000 years old and are considered to be one of the more important lowland barrow groups in the country.
